Despite its international reach, IFBBPRO.com was falling short in terms of functionality and performance, particularly for mobile users.

More than 70% of visitors accessed the site from a mobile device, yet the website was still built with desktop-first priorities in mind. This meant that event schedules were difficult to scroll through, page elements overlapped, and navigation often broke entirely on smaller screens.

Site administrators had to manually enter and format each event update, often duplicating tasks or fixing broken layouts. With hundreds of competitions and updates each year, the process was both time-consuming and prone to errors.

The WordPress theme in place was outdated and frequently broke during plugin or core updates, leading to sudden layout issues that required urgent developer intervention.

With key stakeholders working from different countries, managing revisions, reviews, and approvals became a significant challenge. Communication delays slowed down workflows and created uncertainty around progress and accountability.

As the IFBB Professional League continued to expand its footprint, it became clear that the website needed more than a cosmetic update; it required a complete structural overhaul that would enhance mobile usability, reduce administrative effort, and reflect the professionalism of the brand.

WDK maintained close collaboration with the IFBB Professional League throughout the project, with Tina Circelli and Pam Speck, WDK’s project leads, driving delivery through consistent communication via email and Microsoft Teams.

Here’s how we transformed the site:

We implemented a custom WordPress theme optimized for mobile performance, responsive layouts, and high traffic volumes. The new build supports rapid load times, clean hierarchy, and seamless navigation, whether you’re browsing from a phone, tablet, or desktop.

Every detail, from menu navigation to event listings, was rebuilt with mobile-first logic. This meant larger tap targets, stacked content, and collapsible filters to improve usability across devices.

To reduce repetitive backend work, we created dynamic event tables that automatically update based on tags, categories, and custom fields. Content managers can now upload a month’s worth of events in minutes, with no copy-pasting and no broken layouts.

Each table filters by region, month, or event type, allowing users to quickly and easily find the competitions that matter most to them.

To ensure fair and equal visibility for promoters, WDK designed a rotating banner system that cycles images and stacks them according to predefined rules. No more manual swaps or accidental omissions, each promoter receives consistent screen time on the homepage.

Despite working across time zones, we maintained momentum through structured updates, Microsoft Teams chats, and streamlined revision rounds. With clear milestones and strong collaboration, the project stayed on track and exceeded expectations.

The newly launched IFBBPRO.com is a complete reimagining of how the league operates online.
